Womens World Cup round-up: Germany scrape past Spain, Nigeria ease to victory over South Korea
The 2019 Womens World Cup is now in full flow and there were three brilliant games played on Wednesday.Below you can read about the best of the action in France.

Nigeria 2-0 South Korea

A stunning goal by former Liverpool striker Asisat Oshoala helped earn Nigeria a first win in the tournament – and all but confirm South Korea’s exit from the competition.3

Nigeria took the lead when defender Kim Do-yeon volleyed past her own keeper.Ex-Arsenal player Oshoala held off a defender before neatly rounding the keeper to score Nigeria’s second goal.South Korea, who face Norway in their third and final group match on Monday, have yet to find the net or earn a point.

Germany 1-0 Spain

Germany continued their perfect start to the World Cup as they claimed a narrow win over Spain in Group B.Bayern Munich midfielder Sara Daebritz’s scrappy first-half goal proved to be the difference and put the side ranked number two in the world all-but through to the last-16 round.3

Germany edged out Spain in a close encounter

Spain dominated the ball but the Germans scored against the run of play when Daebritz pounced on some hesitant defending to bundle the ball in at the far post.The result meant that Germany will be assured of their place in the knockout stages if South Africa fail to beat China on Thursday, while realistically they look set to top the group.

France 2-1 Norway

Hosts France all but secured a place in the knockout stage of the World Cup after forward Valerie Gauvin marked her return to the line-up with a goal against Norway.The striker did not start the win over South Korea after showing up late for training but she neatly found the net from a cross.However, France’s lead did not last long after Wendie Renard bundled the ball into her own net while trying to clear her lines.3

France scraped to victory over Norway

France sealed the win through Eugenie Le Sommer’s penalty after Marion Torrent was fouled by Ingrid Engen.They top Group A with six points from two games – three ahead of second-placed Norway and third-placed Nigeria – with one group game left against Nigeria on Monday next week.
