Heung-Min Son: Tottenham forward available for Watford clash and could feature
Heung-Min Son has already trained with Tottenham and could be ready to feature in their midweek Premier League clash with Watford, Mauricio Pochettino has revealed.Son, the forward, returned from international duty last week as South Korea suffered a shock defeat by Qatar in the Asian Cup quarter-finals.Son played all three of South Korea’s matches after arriving late for the tournament2

He featured in three matches having linked up with the South Korea squad after they had already played twice in the tournament, and returns to Tottenham sooner than anticipated with Paulo Bento’s side expected to progress further than they did.Despite landing back in England last week and taking part in a training session on Sunday morning, Son was not ready to feature in the FA Cup fourth round clash at Crystal Palace – which the Lilywhites lost.It was Tottenham’s second cup exit in the space of a few days having been knocked out the Carabao Cup by Chelsea on Thursday, and focus now switches back to the Premier League with Spurs needing to secure a top four finish. They return to action on Wednesday night with Watford visiting Wembley to take on Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and the Hornets are hoping to complete the double over Tottenham having claimed a remarkable 2-1 defeat of the north Londoners in the reverse fixture earlier this season.Spurs have been boosted by the early return of Son, however, and he could feature in the midweek clash.“On Sunday we were with him on the training ground in the morning,” Pochettino said of the South Korea forward. “He’s so tired, he played three games. Very tough games.“Of course not too much energy on Sunday, but we hope he’ll be available and ready on Wednesday to help the team.”Pochettino will use Son as he tries to maintain Tottenham’s push for a top-four finish in the Premier League, an achievement the Argentinian says is still their main target. He added: “Of course I am disappointed because, after Thursday and today again, out of two competitions – you feel disappointed. You can’t feel anything different.Former Tottenham star Townsend scored as Crystal Palace dumped Spurs out the FA Cup2

“But now we have to be positive. We are still in two competitions, in a good position in the Premier League and the Champions League is a massive motivation for the whole club. We have to be strong.“Now the realistic targets are trying to be in the top four, try and be close to Manchester City and Liverpool and reduce the gap.“To be a contender is always difficult for us. (Top four) is realistic.“Another is to try and beat (Borussia) Dortmund and be in the next round of the Champions League. That is tough.”
