The job on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hands right now, as interim Manchester United manager, isn’t one many would relish.Shipping goals, misfiring forwards, unhappy players, and frustrated fans, the Norwegian legend needs to steady things over the next six months before a permanent boss comes in.6

1. Attack, attack, attack

While Manchester Uniteds current plight is a tad over-sold, its evident the club do not attack like they used to under Sir Alex Ferguson, who had his team thrilling fans whether dominating or on the counter attack.Solskjaer, who was a striker by trade, will know the ethos the clubs supporters demand so an entertaining style should be implemented if he wishes to have a successful tenure.6

It shouldnt be too tough given the options at his disposal with Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba all in the squad.Over the last three seasons at Molde, Solskjaer has his side averaging on 1.79 goals per game but it was 2.1 per game in 2018 which should be encouraging for United fans.

2. But get the defence in order too

Were only 17 matches into the Premier League campaign but already the Red Devils have conceded 29 goals one more than the entirety of last season and the same amount as the whole of the 2016/17 campaign when the club finished sixth.6

In fact, Manchester United have let in less than 29 goals in EIGHT top-flight seasons since 1992.It will be tough for Solskjaer to improve a backline suffering from injury issues, confidence problems, and being error-prone in general, but if he can get them to be just a little more resilient hell be off to a solid start.At Molde the Norwegian averaged 1.25 goals against in the last three years while Mourinhos Man United have been conceding at a rate of 1.7 goals per game.

3. Reintegrate Paul Pogba and make him shine

Sat on the bench gathering dust or offering tame performances against Valencia, Southampton and Crystal Palace from the first whistle, Pogbas 2018/19 season is becoming a real failure.At World Cup 2018 we saw the Frenchman fluttering into life alongside a host of exciting stars but now hes drifted into the background as his career takes a turn for the worse.6

Solskjaer played alongside numerous superstars during his time at Old Trafford so he will have learnt from Sir Alex Ferguson how to deal with troublesome egos and underperforming key men.With Molde, he had Etzaz Hussain, Fredrik Aursnes, and Magnus Wolff Eikrem all contributing in central midfield in different role and positions on the field.All-round Aursnes played in a double pivot, a three-man midfield, and as an attacking midfielder and had one of his most productive seasons ever. Solskjaer may use Pogba similarly.

4. Make the players happy

Its quite clear the Manchester United squad havent been feeling the love much over the last year-and-a-half, and positivity on the pitch needs to return.6

Solskjaer needs to bring the fun back to Old Trafford and if he does it will likely breathe new life into the players and fans.The improvement in the atmosphere at the club could be key across his six-month tenure and to the long-term transition from Mourinho to the new boss.

5. Give Romelu Lukaku his confidence back

As a former striker, and a man who helped coach forwards for a short period under Sir Alex Ferguson, Solskjaer could be the perfect man to get Lukaku back on track.The Belgian appears to be getting his own house in order after recently admitting he bulked up too much at World Cup 2018.6

Lukaku has only managed six Premier League goals this season.

This awareness and willingness to improve will see him fare well and if Solskjaer can restore his confidence and get him firing again then hell been congratulated by all.
