Marcelo Bielsa: Leeds United announce manager will remain at club for 2019/20 season

But the Whites announced on Tuesday that they have exercised an option to extend Bielsa’s contract for another season.“I am delighted that Marcelo has agreed to stay for another year we have unfinished business,” said Leeds’ owner Andrea Radrizzani.Bielsa, who has managed Lazio, Marseille, Athletic Bilbao and the Chile national team among others, was a surprise appointment as Leeds manager last summer when he replaced Paul Heckingbottom.Supporters quickly warmed to his exciting brand of attacking football and it looked as though the club would end their 15-year exodus from the Premier League as they led the Championship table in March. However, it proved to be a difficult second half of the season as they lost momentum in the promotion race and finished third before losing in the play-off semi-finals to Derby.Despite the disappointment over missing out on a top-flight a return, Bielsa remains a popular figure with supporters, with many expressing their delight that he will be staying at the helm.
