A penalty from Mohamed Salah and a late Divock Origi strike sealed a historic victory for the club and gave Jurgen Klopp his first trophy with the Anfield club. After the game Henderson, 28, was quick to seek out his dad Brian, who was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2013.The England midfielder was overcome with emotion as he hugged his father by the side of the pitch just moments after lifting the top prize in European football.Brian had asked his son not to see him while he underwent treatment for cancer.Speaking to the Mail last year, Jordan said: “I didn’t see my dad much in that time. Very little. He wouldn’t let me. Brendan (Rodgers) was very good. He said I could go back home whenever I wanted to see him, so I saw him just before he went in for his first treatment.“Then I would see him again a few weeks later and it wasn’t too bad but, towards the end, it got to a point where he didn’t want to see me at all because of how he was. “He didn’t want me to see him like that so I knew it was pretty bad. I was in regular contact but the only thing I could really do was try and perform on a weekend and luckily enough at the time, we started winning every week.”Henderson played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool were crowned Champions League winners for the sixth time in their history.Klopp finally ended his trophy hoodoo with the Anfield club, putting an end to a run of six consecutive cup final defeats. And Henderson’s dad always believed his son would make it to a Champions League final one day.Henderson of Liverpool lifts the Champions League trophygetty3

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, Brian Henderson said: “When he was ten I took him to see a Champions League final at Manchester United between the two Milan clubs and he said to us, when they came out to the Champions League music: “Dad, I’m going to play there one day.“He’s done it not once, but twice. And he’s won one. I’m absolutely delighted for him.“I think if he hadn’t picked that trophy up today he would have had a bad, bad summer. But now he’ll have a fantastic summer with the children.”

Pochettino has some thinking to do

There were some extraordinarily bad transfers made by Premier League teams last summer, and here are the 5 worst. It's possible that teams rushed into signing players because of the transfer window closing early, or it could just be down to bad decision making, but Premier League committed some calamitous spending last summer.
